We survived January! If you’re anything like me you’re ready to take on 2020’s next month filled with all things red, pink, and lots of white stuff! Montreal activities with kids range the gamut in February from music to science to movie premieres.

Fête des Neiges de Magog – February 1-2 & 8-9

A 90-minute drive from Montreal, this festival is worth a day trip, especially since its free. The entire family will enjoy ice fishing, snow soccer, bubble ice hockey, inflatables, face painting, tubing, pedal karts on ice, musical entertainment, skating, mascots and fireworks.

Build a Heart String Art Decoration – February 8

The kids’ DIY workshop at Home Depot this month is Valentine’s Day themed. Using a wood board, nails and string, they will create their own work of art. Registration closes February 2.

Zoom-Boom-Boom – February 9

The Segal Centre is putting on a musical production for the very young, ages 2-6. The show features electroacoustic music that is sure to spark their imaginations.

Sonic the Hedgehog – Opens February 14

The Sega video game comes to the big screen in this highly-anticipated film featuring Jim Carrey. Opens in theatres across the country (just the kind of warm and fuzzy V-day movie we were hoping for…)

Journey to Space – Opens February 15

This new exhibit at the Montreal Science Centre takes families on an out-of-this-world adventure. One of my favourite Montreal activities with kids this month, allows you to explore the challenges that astronauts encounter in space. You’ll also get to walk through a full-sized reproduction of the International Space Station’s Destiny Lab. This is my vote for a must

Loving Family Valentine’s Cooking Class – February 15

The perfect parent and child cooking activity will extend the day of love to whip up tomato/bocconcini skewers, fondue and strawberry/brownie trifle. Registration required.

Splash N’ Boots – February 16

Having recently won a Juno for best children’s album of 2019, this duo is coming to Montreal. The audience (recommended for 5 years and under) is invited to come decked out as the yellow and blue crew.

Bal des Enfants – February 22

The Orchestra Symphonique de Montreals hosts its annual family day with Robin des Bois (Robin Hood). All proceeds from the event will help the OSM continue to offer musical programming to kids. After the show there will be snack and a chance to get autographs from the musicians.
