Midnight Mom
Living his best lifešŸ„‚(with apple juice). On the Living his best lifešŸ„‚(with apple juice).
On the drive up to Tremblant, we were trying to figure out when the whole family was at a hotel last.
December 2019.
Many of us have put our lives on hold, trying to get through this pandemic unscathed. Our kids’ lives have been turned upside down and as resilient as we say they are, they’re missing out on so much.
Hoping to give my trio a bit of an escape this weekend with lots of swimming, exploring and a much-needed change of scenery.
A big thanks to @fairmonttremblant for hosting us!
I just read an article in the NYT about summer tra I just read an article in the NYT about summer travel. While the majority of our cohorts in the US have at least one vaccine, their concern is their children.
Assuming most of us (30-50 years old) will have our first vaccine by the summer, what are your travel plans?
The article suggests driving, staying domestic, renting a house or a campground, and avoiding busy locations.
We’ve rented a house in Prince Edward County again in July (pending restrictions) and are actually supposed to go to Tremblant next weekend (still figuring out if travel from red zone to red zone is allowed).
What are your plans?
Majorly got out of my comfort zone today for two r Majorly got out of my comfort zone today for two reasons:
1. I hadn’t been karting in over a decade but was it fun! My husband was shocked by my ā€œneed for speedā€. šŸŽ
2. Aside from the ski hill and the park (and the Covid test center!), we haven’t really been anywhere as a family since the summer. But we felt super safe @kartomania. We took the first appointment of the day at noon and were the only customers inside until our block of time was done. All employees are masked and constantly disinfecting the cars, iPads to register and door handles. For the thirty minutes we were racing I almost forgot about Covid. 🦠 Reservations are required and little kids like Leo can accompany a parent in a double kart.
My weekly Friday night stories are getting harder My weekly Friday night stories are getting harder as more activities in Montreal require reservations.
Plan for the month ahead with my newest blog post, with outings that are safe and socially distanced.

Today’s Leo had a one-on-one, customized class with @funtastikboogie that was all about dinosaurs šŸ¦•. He decorated a mask, stuffed a tail and sang the best dinosaur song #laurieburknerband
Tania was super attentive, captivating, and catered to his needs. I definitely could have left them all alone for the 30-minute session.
Group sessions can be booked too!

It’s fashion for a very good cause! And the perfect addition to my loungewear collection. Anyone else actually put on a pair of jeans today too?! #spreadthelove #gifted
Our Covid story: It took me a year to realize that Our Covid story:
It took me a year to realize that no matter how hard you try to protect your family from Covid, it all comes down to luck.

You can do everything in your power to avoid the virus but with the new variant, where your kids go to school and daycare, where you work, where you shop - will all determine how lucky you are in avoiding it.

Our entire family just recovered from Covid. It was in my daughter’s class, and she got it. Even after quarantining in her room for 6 days, we all got it. But we didn’t spread it to anyone. Because we stayed home immediately.

It was awful. I couldn’t move for 2 weeks. My kids watched lots of TV and ate snacks all day long. The fever wouldn’t go away.

And just as we were ready to go back to life, after 2.5 weeks, Leo’s daycare closes because of a positive case. He doesn’t need to quarantine (was never exposed to the child) and the big kids can go to school because we are immune (for 4 months) but my husband and I now need to try to work for the next 3 weeks with a bored 4 year old at home.

Your actions directly impact your community.
Stay home.
Don’t gather.
If your child has any symptoms, keep them home.
Keep the whole family home.
Even if you’ve had Covid, don’t gather. It’s illegal.
Lead by example and show your children that everyone has to abide by the rules.

This isn’t meant to cause fear. It’s a plea. To do the right thing. So that dozens of other families aren’t affected by your actions. For us, it will be 5 weeks of life turned upside down. It’s just not fair.
Zoom bat mitzvah! Tonight we celebrated Hannah as Zoom bat mitzvah!
Tonight we celebrated Hannah as she became a Jewish woman. She did an amazing job and we couldn’t be more proud of the young lady she has become!
We hadn’t planned for it to happen at home but loved seeing all the squares of friends and family, celebrating with us across North America.
This was a ray of light in the past two weeks of Covid and something for us all to look forward to as we healed. Life doesn’t always happen the way we plan. But at the end of the day, every moment needs to be celebrated - especially the happy ones!

Yesterday was by far the hardest day of our year-l Yesterday was by far the hardest day of our year-long Covid journey with multiple classes in our school closing.

I let my kids use their devices too much, sometimes they eat cookies for breakfast, my consistency in parenting isn’t always the best. Until it really matters.

I have said No so many times this year. No play dates. No birthday parties. No garage hangouts. Just No. Because it’s not worth taking a chance.

While we’re still locked up at home, waiting, my consistency makes me feel a tiny bit safer in this unpredictable situation. My consistency has hopefully taught my kids that following the rules is more important than ever. My consistency will hopefully protect my family. My consistency has made me proud of my title of mom.

Stay safe everyone. And stay home, especially this March break.
