Montreal with Kids May 2026

Montreal with Kids May 2026

It’s the month when we’re lucky enough to be celebrated as moms. Flowers, homemade cards, gifts you didn’t really want but always put on a big smile when you get. Hopefully you can steal away and take some time for yourself (or have the laundry and dinner taken care of). But on all the other days of May, it’s a great month to get outside and enjoy some of the city’s finest events. Here’s my Montreal with kids May 2026 guide to help you get started.

Fun Show Amusement – Throughout the month

This travelling fair will be visiting numerous mall parking lots throughout Montreal this month with a variety of rides and games to entertain everyone. It will be at Carrefour Angrignon until May 10th and then will head to Place Vertu and Place Rosemere from May 14th to 31st. A full day wristband can be purchased to access all rides.

Japan Week – May 1-10

The Time Out Market will be transformed into Japan for this special event that celebrates the food, culture and products from this amazing country. Events throughout the week will include shopping, sake tastings, calligraphy workshops and much more. The annual Shiba, Akita, Kimono and Yukata dog gathering will also be taking place on May 2nd.

La Ronde Season Opening – May 16

Our local amusement park will be opening for the season on May 16th for weekends only. This is a big year as the Goliath ride celebrates its 20th anniversary, with a special event on May 17th. Now is the time to buy your passes and get a silver pass for the price of a gold pass, giving you access all season long.

Black Mirror Experience – Opens May 21

This highly anticipated 60-minute immersive experience is coming to Montreal this month. It’s a VR adventure where participants have to make choices inside a story. They have an AI agent to help them. This is for kids 12+ and takes place at the Science Centre in the Old Port.

Echo Cirque du Soleil – May 21 – July 31

Every summer Cirque du Soleil brings a new show to Montreal, and this year that show is Echo. This story tells a tale of humans and animals working together to rebuild the planet for a better world. All through amazing stunts, acrobats and breathtaking moments. The big top will be set up in the Old Port and shows vary by time and day.

Grand Prix du Canada – May 22-24

The Grand Prix is back and earlier than ever in Montreal. The event which usually takes place in June, will be here in May, getting the city into festival mode earlier. If you’re lucky enough to be heading to the races, consider upgrading your ticket to see performances by amazing artists like Simple Plan, Bryan Adams and Alessia Cara. If you’re not making it into the grandstands, head to Crescent street for 4 days of entertainment.

Mile End en Fête – May 22-24

The neighbourhood of Mile End is celebrating the arrival of spring by getting local merchants outdoors, and a program full of activities. From dancing to DJs and fashion shows to a family block party, there is something for everyone. The Laurier street fire house will also be hosting a fête des pompiers over the weekend!

Go Bike Festival – May 24-31

The bicycles are taking to the streets for many festivities over the course of the weekend. We all know that the tour de l’ile will make our Sunday commute a bit difficult but the Tour la nuit is for the entire family. Taking place on the evening of May 29th, this 20km causal bike ride makes its way through neighbourhoods like Villeray, St Michel and Parc Ex. Participation for kids under 12 is free (and they definitely don’t have to do the entire route!)
