When I first started blogging in 2010 Instagram didn’t exist. There was no such thing as social media influencers or stylized flatlays and you had to know how to use photoshop to add a filter to your photos. I was among a small group of local Montreal mom bloggers sharing their stories, learnings and struggles online. Fast forward eight years later and it’s a whole other world. I have been so inspired by the thousands of moms all over the world who take beautiful photos and have made a business out of blogging and social media.

While many of them give me camera and kid wardrobe envy, I tend to follow some more authentic local moms. These ladies have kids of all ages and live throughout the city – from the South Shore to the Plateau to the West Island. The one thing they all have in common though is amazing mom blogs where they share their families’ stories, local kid finds, kid-friendly recipes, travel inspiration and more.

Hey Maca

When you meet Maca for the first time you quickly learn that her personality is as colourful as her wardrobe. This mom of two little ones fills her feed with the most colourful walls and stylized tiles across Instagram (paired with her perfect prints from Anthropologie and J. Crew). On her blog she shares kid-friendly activities and dining destinations, dreamy travel spots and plenty of outing ideas.

Chic Mom in the City

When I first stumbled upon Stephanie from Chic Mom in the City I knew there was more to her than just black and white. This mom of three boys’ monochromatic Instagram feed showcases her amazing flatlay skills often featuring her youngest Axel. This Montreal mom blogger has her ear to the ground on the toddler fashion scene and is a great resource for discovering local Canadian kids’ brands.

Our Nest in the City

Em is one mom who is keeping it real. I love watching her Instagram stories to see her latest thrift store finds and how she re-decorates her kids room (3 of them in one small-ish space) to always keep it fresh. She also makes me slightly jealous of living in the Plateau with coffee shops and murals around every corner. In her blog she shares parenting advice, gives tips (how to go travel to Europe for free!) and makes me love Montreal all over again.

Motherhood in Stilettos

When you first see Kris her bold lipstick draws you in – she is the essence of motherhood in style. On her Instagram feed she shares real life parenting challenges when it comes to her 6 year old son who is Autistic. Her blog lends itself to many lifestyle topics including fashion, beauty and food but her parenting articles run the gamut from local outings to organizational tips.

Ask Mama Moe

Julia has been blogging since my debut back in 2010 about her three boys (twins!) and the best places in Montreal to keep them busy and learning. Her mommy blog features art project how-tos, new openings around the city, movie reviews, recipes and tons more mommy inspiration. Lazy Moms

Equal parts food stylist, interior decorator and DIYer, Joanna from Lazy Moms is anything but lazy! With two daughters at home and a baby on the way, her Instagram feed makes me want to re-decorate my entire home… On her Montreal mom blog she shares articles about mindfulness, parenting and homemaking and even has sections complete with kids’ crafts and DIY projects.
