August 2021: Family Activities in Montreal

We’ve officially reached the halfway mark of summer and while the weather hasn’t been on our side lately, now is the time to enjoy all our city has to offer. Let’s stay optimistically cautious (what fourth wave?) and hope that we get to attend all of the fun events, festivals and other family activities in Montreal in August.

Internal Balloon Festival in St Jean sur Richelieu – Weekends in August

The annual hot air balloon festival is back this year. While the schedule is much more lean than years past, it will let the beautifully coloured balloons get their much deserved attention. On the evening of August 7th, the balloons will be lit up with Chinese lanterns. On August 14th, there will be an aerial acrobatics show. All events are free but reservations are required.

Clueless & Cocktails – August 5

While this may sound like a girls night, I think it’s a great outing for any mom and teen/tween, as if! Head to Jardin Royalmount for an outdoor movie experience for this classic movie! Doors open at 7pm, movie starts at 7:45pm.

$18.60-$24.60

Super Dad Race – August 7

This race isn’t just for dad, but the entire family! The 3km obstacle course in the woods is a great way for dads (and moms too) to spend some time outdoors, exercising with kids. There are plenty of other activity booths as well a maze, giant games, and zipline. Each child will receive a medal.

$19.99/person, Sainte-Calixte, QC

Montreal First People’s Festival Concerts – August 4-9

A great opportunity to expose children to our first nations, through dance and music as one of the amazing family activities in Montreal this month. From drum groups to pow wow singers and traditional dancers to oversized puppets, a fun and educational afternoon will be had by all. Takes place in Place des Festivals.

Tour La Nuit – August 27

Take part in the 22km night time bike ride that will tour 4 different municipalities. To accommodate Covid restrictions, bikers can start at any of the 8 points, which means there won’t be an official starting and finish line. Along the way there will be surprise activities and chocolate milk! Registration is required.

Family Focused Pop Up Shop – August 29

Some of the city’s best kid products will be popping up for a one day sale. Between 12pm-4pm discover local brands including: Jabberwocky Kits, Brilliant Little Binders, Fyzz Bath Creations, ChocoBake, Oh Baby Baby and One Rock Creations. 2355 Lucerne Rd.
