July 2021: Family Activities in Montreal
This is the first monthly round up in a long while that’s starting to feel “normal” again. As we enter our first week of being in a green zone, our city is alive with festivals coming back and streets filling with pedestrians. There are plenty of family activities in Montreal this month, here are some of my top picks, to be aired on CJAD’s Now Trending Show on July 4th.
Jardin Royalmount Opening
What started as a drive in movie theatre last summer has turned into an amazing outdoor event space in the heart of TMR. Jardin Royalmount will be hosting a slew of launch events this month including family-friendly movies, musical performances and the opportunity to rent out spaces for family gatherings. On the 4th watch Tom & Jerry, and on the 12th watch Spies in Disguise. It’s more than just a movie with a live DJ, contests, food and beverage and more. And mark your calendars for a girls’ night out on July 14th for Dirty Dancing.
Reservations required, $18.60/child, $24.60/adult
Montreal Complètement Cirque – July 8-18
This circus festival is back at the TOHU with many thrilling shows for all audiences. My top pick for paid shows is Cabaret Yam, with plenty of matinees for this acrobatics show ($29). Inspired by African music and circus arts, this show will be entertaining and educational. There are a handful of free events that will be popping up in locations across the city as well.
Summer Workshops at La TOHU
Throughout the month, TOHU will also be offering some great family activities in Montreal. Every Saturday from July 10-31, parents and their 2-6 year olds can participate in Petites Bouchées de Cirque where they will develop trust through acrobatics. From Friday to Saturday, rent a free kite, bike or scooter and spend the day outdoors!
Reservations required, opens Monday at 10am for the following weekend
Eureka Festival Online – July 14-18
This annual science festival is back in an online format for 2021. Kids ages 8+ can set off on a virtual adventure that includes more than 50 French activities likes games, videos, podcasts and more. “Sail on the waters of the L’île du savoir archipelago, aboard a boat that you build through your own experiences. Your mission: participate in activities, soak up some scientific knowledge and advance through a sea of inspiring discoveries.”
Water Slides
What better way to enjoy a heat wave than spending the day at the water park?! Saint Sauveur Aqua Club is now open everyday. And when you purchase a daily ticket ($20.99-$49.99) you will also have access to the mountain’s 5 amusement rides. Bromont mountain also features water slides which include 4 pools and 13 slides. When you add $15 to a day ticket ($16-$45) you will get access to mountain activities including gondola rides, a climbing wall, slackfline, luge and more. Both facilities also offer cabana rentals if you want your own space for the day.
