Happy new year! 2025 is upon us which means we have a new 365 days of fun ahead. No matter your resolutions – workout more, spend less, explore more – I hope my lists of things to do in Montreal with kids continue to inspire you into the new year to make the most of all that our beautiful city has to offer. Kicking it off with things to do in Montreal with kids January 2025 edition!

Exporail Iron + Ice – January 5-28

The Saint-Constant train museum has a new exhibit opening this year that focuses on how weather affects the railway system. Visitors can discover a massive snow plow and learn how snow trains used to bring skiers to the mountains.

Disney on Ice – January 9-12

Into the Magic is the newest Disney on Ice show that will take place at Place Bell in Laval. Three English shows will be held on January 9 at 7pm, January 10 at 3pm and January 12 at 3pm. Some of the stars will include cast members from Moana, Frozen, Coco, Beauty & the Beast and, of course, Mickey and Minnie!

Tohu Winter Rentals – January 11 – March 16

Throughout the winter, Tohu will be offering free winter sport rentals from 10am to 4pm. The 2-hour loans at Parc Frederic Back include x-country skis, snow scooters, snowshoes and kites too. This is a great way to try out new activities on 3 different trails, of varying lengths and difficulties.

Igloofest – Weekends – January 16 – February 8

Over the next four Saturdays, Quai Jacques Cartier in Old Montreal will be home to the Igloofest from 1pm to 6pm. Entrance to the event is free and visitors can expect fun activities like the Igloogym, an outdoor slide, a drawing workshop for kids, food trucks, hot chocolate and more! Also, every Friday night a DJ will be performing at the skating rink.

Montreal Auto Show – January 17-26

A great indoor activity option, the car show is back at Palais de Congrès. Whether you’re in the market for a new vehicle or not, it’s a fun downtown adventure to sit in new cars, test drive electric models and more. Kids under 5 are free too.

Department des Retour – January 19

Place des Arts will be hosting a new kid-friendly play with 2 showings at 11am and 2pm. The 55-minute show is geared to kids 4-12 years old. While the show is in French, it features minimal talking as it takes guests on a circus-style adventure of the Soeurs Kif Kif who work in the returns department of a store after the holiday.

Rendez-Vous Polaires – January 25

Récréo Parc will be hosting its first winter festival of the season in Sainte Catherine, QC. From 12pm to 4pm, guests can enjoy free winter challenges, inflatables, food trucks, and sales on winter gear. Winter fat bikes are also available to rent for an additional fee.

NBA G League Comes to Montreal – January 24-26

Basketball is coming back to Montreal as the Toronto Raptors 905 play two games against the Long Island Nets. These G league teams are sure to bring their game to Place Bell on January 24 at 7pm and January 26 at 3pm. Tickets range between $18-$65.
