Family Travel: Hotel Zero Degrees Danbury
This past winter break we headed to New York state for a wedding. With cousins spread out in a triangle across New York and Connecticut, we were searching for accommodations that were not only convenient to their homes and NYC, but also family-friendly. After much searching, we landed on Hotel Zero Degrees in Danbury, CT.
About an hour from NYC, 30 minutes from Westchester, New York and 5 hours from Montreal, Hotel Zero Degrees is a destination in and of itself. Nestled on a beautiful, tree-lined property, this boutique hotel is part of a local group that makes staying away from home a treat. While we visited in March, I would definitely visit again in the summer to enjoy the many outdoor amenities that the hotel offers including an outdoor swimming pool and fire pits.
Accommodations

We were travelling as a family of 4 this time around, as my daughter stayed with a cousin nearby. We stayed in a one-bedroom executive suite which features all of the amenities including a microwave, mini fridge, closed bedroom and deluxe pull out couch. The artwork on the walls made the room feel especially unique. It definitely was not your standard hotel design.
If we had been 5, we could have added a connecting room to fit the entire family. Breakfast was included in the room, with a grab-and-go station in the lobby (Starbucks coffee included).
Amenities

Seeing as the hotel is quite new, it featured a modern gym perfect for a workout away from home. The lobby was huge with lounging areas, working stations and a very impressive snack boutique. Known to host many events, the outside grounds are also vast with fun touches like yard games and lots of comfy outdoor couches. The on-site restaurant Terra features both indoor and outdoor eating spaces with an Italian menu. Parking on-site is also free.

Nearby
If you’re not visiting the area with the city as your main destination there is plenty to discover in Danbury. Families can enjoy the railway museum, the Bridgeport Discovery Museum and Planetarium, and the Thrillz Adventure Park. We spent some time at the Danbury Fair mall and were told that the donuts at Grounds Donut House are not to be missed.
Our stay at Hotel Zero Degrees Danbury merited two big thumbs up! We would most definitely return again, and not just because we have family in the area!
