They’re back to school. Pumpkin spice lattés have made a reappearance. You may already be longing to wear that new chunky sweater. But before you get full-on into fall mode, savour the last days of summer in Montreal. Beat the homework blues by making the most of weekends, especially the long one, with these Montreal family activities September 2022 has to offer.

Gardens of Light – September 2 – October 31

The Montreal Botanical Garden’s annual event is back for the fall. Spend an afternoon on the grounds and make a reservation for the magical light exhibits from 7-10pm. This year’s theme is an Ode to the Moon. $60.75/family pass

Brome Fair – September 3-5

The perfect labour day activity! The two hour drive to the town of Brome will be worth it as your family can spend a day of fun at activities including horse judging, demolition derbies, animal presentations, tractor pulls and more. Family passes are available starting at $65.

Granby Zoo Water Park – Closes September 5

If you haven’t headed out to the zoo yet this summer, this first weekend of September is the perfect chance. The water park closes on Monday so not only can you see the animals but you can splash around too. Be sure to check out the zoo’s newest instalment, Animabloc, an exhibit of 30 animals built out of LEGO-like bricks. $14.99-$49.99, kids under 2 are free.

Grandes Oreilles – September 10-11

Outremont will be hosting the 6th year of this event in Parc Beaubien. It’s a family musical festival. While mostly in French, kids can enjoy activities like a treasure hunt, hip hop dance classes, a make-your-own instrument workshop and, of course, lots of musical presentations. Saturday 12-7:30pm, Sunday 1-7pm.

Rougemont Les Weekends Gourmands – September 10 – October 16

Apple picking season kicks off and Rougemont is a great destination to not only head to an orchard but to enjoy fall activities as well. These weekend celebrations include fun activities for the entire family including petting zoos, games, tastings and more. Sutton Fall Festival – September 17 – October 16

The leaves will start changing colours soon, and even sooner in the Eastern Townships. Head to Mont Sutton one weekend for a fall escape. Tons of activities will be offered including ziplines, an alpine coaster, mountain biking, disc golf and more. Fees apply for some activities.

Just for Kids Foundation Stroll for Kids – September 18

A fun event that gives back to the greater Montreal community! Teach your kids about fundraising by having your family raise a minimum of $250 to benefit the Montreal Children’s Hospital. In return, you’ll be able to experience a morning of fun (9:30am-12:30pm) at a local Montreal park. Tons of activities will be available including music, dance, sports, arts & crafts, as well as plenty of food to keep their energy levels up! Lunch will be provided from local restaurants including Arthurs, Mandy’s, Pigeon Café and more.

Journées de la Culture – September 30 – October 2

A weekend filled with cultural activities in and around Montreal! While all the activities haven’t been announced just yet, you can expect free entry into museums, performances, demonstrations and more.
