September 2021: Family Activities in Montreal
They’re back. Back to school. While our weekdays have suddenly become busier with carpool, packing lunches, homework and trying to get them to go to bed on time, our weekends are now the ultimate moments for family fun. Grab your PSL and a sweater and head out on one of these family activities in Montreal this month!
First Fridays – September 3-5
The food trucks are finally back at the Olympic Stadium making First Fridays a weekend long affair to celebrate Labour Day. It’s the perfect way to eat al fresco with something for everyone, including multiple bars for the parents. Pro tip: If the kids need to get some energy out take them to the bouncy house park around the corner that’s open until 6pm. Vaccination passport required for entry.
September 3 4pm-11pm, September 4 12pm-10pm, September 5, 12pm-9pm
Gardens of Light – September 3-October 31
It’s back for the fall and even better than ever! While visiting this light show, guests will be greeted by howling wolves ushering in the moon. Then, enter the First Nations Garden, followed by the traditional Chinese lantern exhibit. It’s the perfect autumn evening outing.

Corn Mazes!
It’s that time of year when you head out as a family and decide to get lost in a field full of corn. Will you make it out still talking to one another?! Just kidding! But be sure to bring along plenty of snacks and water for the kids. The corn maze at Ferme Forget is pretty amazing and the kids will love the tractor ride and farm yard ($5-$8/person). Another great option is Verger Labonte where the themed corn maze has riddles for 3 different skill levels ($50-$70/family). You can also apple and pumpkin pick while you’re there.
Apple Picking!
‘Tis the season. If you’re looking for a great orchard here are two of my favourites for organic apple picking near Montreal.
Weekends Gourmands de Rougemont – September 11 to October 17
For the ultimate apple experience, head to Rougemont, where every weekend will be the perfect opportunity for picking. Other events on the itinerary include picnic areas, kids’ animation, animal farms, tastings and more.
Mont Blanc Fall Colours – September 18
Looking for the perfect place to take in the beautiful fall foliage colours? Head to Mont Blanc for this one-day festival. There will be inflatables, live music, food trucks, popcorn, cotton candy and more!
