Montreal with Kids: October 2024
As the weather is cooling off and the leaves start changing colours, fall activities are in full swing in Montreal. From Halloween events to the city’s annual dose of basketball to autumn festivals, get ready for Montreal with kids October 2024 edition.
New Show at the Planetarium – Starts October 1
If you’re going to a movie, make it a truly immersive experience at the Planetarium. The new film – Beyond the Sun – In Search of a New Earth – is told by Celeste, a little girl exploring the universe. The movie is geared towards kids 7+.
Maison NBA – October 4-6
The NBA is coming to Montreal with basketball games between the Washington Wizards and the Toronto Raptors. If you don’t have tickets to the game(s), you can still get the full basketball experience at Maison NBA. This 3-day event is taking place at Crew Collective in Montreal and is free, with online registration. The immersive experience includes games, the NBA cup, photo opportunities, a merch shop and opportunities to meet players from the NBA and WNBA, such as Vince Carter and Natalie Achonwa.
La Ronde Kids Pumpkin Festival – October 5-27
On weekends in October (plus Thanksgiving Monday), La Ronde will be a festive space for younger families to celebrate Halloween. These days will be a non-scary experience with games, shows, activities and more, while the evenings will be geared to the older crowd with the Fright Fest. The amusement park will be transformed into the Halloween spirit.
Saint Sauveur Fall Festival – October 11-27
If you want to head out of the town to see the beautiful fall foliage Saint Sauveur is the place to be. The family will enjoy chairlift rides, mini golf, and amusement rides at Park Fun. Special events will be taking place on weekends including a virtual escape room (11-14), pumpkin carving activity (19-20) and monster party (26-27). The entire month the gear shop will be having a big sale if you need to stock up for winter.
Thanksgiving at the Ecomusem – October 12-14
Didn’t get the chance to visit the Ecomuseum this summer? Thanksgiving is a great opportunity to visit the Saint-Anne-de-Bellevue zoo. The focus will be on all things turkey, including presentations and special games. Reservations are required, space is limited.
Oktoberfest at Maisonneuve Market – October 12
The parents will enjoy discovering over 100+ craft beers, alongside live music. The kids will have fun with face painting, bouncy castles and other giant games. The event takes place from 11am to 7pm and is also a great opportunity to pick your pumpkin and Halloween/fall decor.
Halloween Shivers – Until October 31
The Montreal Botanical Gardens is hosting their annual Halloween Shivers event until the end of the month. This event features an amazing outdoor maze, daily potion workshops, and witches in the greenhouse. Once you’re heading out to Espace pour La Vie, it’s a great opportunity to stay past dusk to see The Gardens of Light.
