Montreal with Kids February 2026
Super Bowl, Winter Olympics, Valentine’s Day – the month of February is already full of big events (mostly watched on a TV) but there’s still a whole lot of winter to embrace in Montreal. From winter carnivals to classical music to hockey for everyone, start planning your weekends now to make the most bleary month a lot more fun. Keep reading for my roundup of things to do in Montreal with kids February 2026 edition.
Community Winter Carnivals
We may not get family day here in Quebec, but our municipalities sure know how to celebrate winter. Here are but a few that will be taking place this month:
Dorval – February 4-8
Westmount – February 5-7
Dollard des Ormeaux – February 7
Cote St Luc – February 8
Lunar New Year Celebration – February 9-10
While there are many ways to celebrate the arrival of the year of the horse, the Old Port is ushering it in with the Chinese Lion Dance Club. With two performances (February 9 at 7:30pm and February 10 at 3pm), dancers will be dressed as lions and present a celebratory performance. A fire artist will also be on-site for the evening celebration, and bring your skates along as the festivities will be near the Old Port skating rink.
Beauty and the Beast and the Orchestra – February 14
The OSM hosts their annual Bal des Enfants with a very special fundraising event. This French showing of Beauty and the Beast will be accompanied by the orchestra, making it a very special Valentine’s Day outing. The show is at 2:30pm and tickets start at $65.
Team Canada Fan Fest – February 21-22
The Olympics are coming and Team Canada is celebrating by spending each weekend in a different city. The Montreal event, taking place at Quartier des Spectacles, will include skating, curling, and athlete appearances. Of course, the real games will be on the big screen outdoors, including a presentation of the closing ceremonies.
Canadiens Skills Competition – February 22
This is my one of my family’s favourite events – because it makes hockey affordable and it’s a great way to see the players up close and having fun. The skills competition is a friendly game among the Habs with ticket prices starting at $14, with all proceeds benefitting their children’s foundation. FYI – tickets sell out quickly so only resale ones may be available at this time.
Diving World Cup – February 26 – March 1
Montreal is the first stop on an international tour for this diving competition taking place at the Olympic Centre Sportive. Before heading to Mexico and China, over 120 athletes, from 20 nations, will show off their diving skills. Tickets start at $29.75 to watch various competitions.
Montréal en Lumière – February 27 – March 7
This annual culinary and light festival is back at the end of the month. It’s a great time to visit Quartier des Spectacles’ Place du Festival (so many events taking place there this month – it’s really the place to be!) to see various light installations. While food is a big part of the festival, it may not always be kid-friendly, especially for picky eaters, but this year a new brunch series has launched which could make for a new type of family experience.
Glissades Gamelin – Until March 8
Located near Quartier des Spectacles, this urban hill features 6 snow tracks for 4 winter sports: snow skating, snow scootering, sledding and snowboarding (beginner). On-site rentals are free and with a post-sledding chalet close-by.
