Crispy mornings, walks to the school bus, packing lunches…we are officially back to routine. But we all know how much we love September, one of the most beautiful months in Montreal. Gardens of Light – August 29 – November 2

The 13th edition of the Montreal Botanical Gardens wondrous light show is on through the fall season. Visit at dusk (between 6pm-10pm) to discover the breathtaking displays in the Chinese, Japanese and First Nations Gardens.

Rougemont Weekends Gourmands – September 6 – October 19

Nothing is more fall than apple picking near Montreal. The region of Rougemont is welcoming visitors during the weekends to discover its multitude of apple orchards, cideries and local artisans. Special events will be hosted throughout the festival including tastings, tractor rides and more.

Jackalope Festival – September 12 – 14

Canada’s biggest action sports festival takes place at the Quai Jacques Cartier in Old Montreal. Featured sports include skateboarding, bouldering and more. While you’re not watching the competitions, visit the food trucks, pop up shops and listen to live DJs. Admission is free.

Citrouilleville Opening – September 13

This pumpkin patch, located 40 minutes from Montreal in St Zotique, will be open on weekends throughout the fall season. Visitors can get lost in the giant corn maze, take a tractor ride, pick the perfect pumpkin, play carnival games and enjoy other on-site entertainment. Admission is $10/person.

Montreal Canadiens Prospect Showdown – September 13 -14

The hockey rookies are coming to Montreal for 4 local games between the Montreal Canadiens, Winnipeg Jets, Toronto Maple Leafs and Ottawa Senators. Tickets are just $10 and all proceeds will be going to charity. If you’re able to score tickets to Sunday’s event, you will have access to a double header with the first game at 3pm and the second at 7pm.

Sutton Fall Festival – September 20 – October 19

Head to the Eastern Townships any weekend to enjoy outdoor activities in nature during prime foliage season. You’ll have the chance to discover mountain biking, disc golf, and zip lining, or even ride the chairlift up to the top of the hill. Fees apply for activities.

Sherif Festival – September 18 – 21

Take a trip to the south, here in the Old Port, to discover smoky flavours and country music. This new festival will focus on BBQ foods like pulled pork poutine, Mac & cheese, corn bread and more. There will be live country music, a mechanical bull, line dancing and other entertaining activities. Admission is free for kids under 10 years old.

Fashion Pup – September 28

Pop Montreal is back and this year’s kids’ programming involves our four legged friends. This doggie fashion show will take place at Entrepot 77 in the Mile End. Bring your own pet dressed in nautical themed attire – mermaids, sailors, crustaceans – or just come to watch. Free entry.
