Montreal with Kids: August 2025
We’ve officially reached the halfway mark of summer. If you let July pass you by, now is the time to make the most of summer festivals, warm weather and tons of free activities in the city. From amazing food to community celebrations, Montreal with kids August 2025 has so much to offer.
Les Lumières de St-Michel – August 8-10
This 3-day festival hosted by Tohu lights up the neighbourhood. Friday night kicks off with an illuminated fun run (no experience needed). Saturday has a giant lantern parade, with costumes too! And all weekend long, you can enjoy lantern-making activities, circus shows, workshops and concerts.
Italfest – August 8-17
If you didn’t get to escape to Italy this summer, the culture comes to Montreal during this festival. You can expect great food, fancy cars, entertainment and so much more. Some of the more fun activities are taking place in NDG on Saturday, August 9th including soccer, basketball and bocce tournaments, and live music.
Street Food Festival – August 14-17
Over 40 restaurants will be selling their best at the Clock Tower Quay in the Old Port. A few cuisine examples include Cambodian, Korean, Thai and Vietnamese and more! Admission for adults is $4, but kids under 8 are free. There will also be live music, games and family-friendly activities.
Imagine Monkland – August 22-25
This local summer festival is back in NDG. It will feature 3 days of music, art and local businesses taking to the streets. This fun event will take place on Monkland, between Girouard and Melrose avenues.
Marionettes Plein la Rue Festival – August 22-24
Promenade Wellington in Verdun will be hosting its annual puppet festival. The weekend features free puppet performances with 45 shows from 20 companies. All are free and primarily take place outdoors.
18th Century Market – August 23-24
Back for its incredible 32nd season, this special activity at Pointe a Callière museum, invites guests to experience New France. The free activities include merchants and craftspeople showing off items traded at the time, traditional Indigenous customs, and music and dance from the era.
Joat Festival – August 26 – September 1
This international street dance festival is coming to Montreal and features live music, dance battles and workshops. One of the family-friendly shows is a kids dance battle taking place on August 30th at Club Soda. It will feature dancers between the ages of 10-15 years old.
Taco Fest – August 30 – September 1
Back again at the Clock Tower Pier in Old Montreal, this festival will feature 25 vendors with over 125 types of tacos. The event is family-friendly daily between 11 am to 3:30 pm, and the entry fee is $9.95. The event features mariachi bands, live music, hot sauce tastings, nacho-guacamole-salsa tastings and more!
