Montreal with Kids: May 2025
Flowers are budding, birds are chirping and it’s pretty safe to say that winter is over. As we enter our most magical time of the year here in Montreal, we automatically increase our living space outdoors and gain a new set of built-in activities. Fun Show Amusement – May 1 – June 1
The travelling fair comes back to Montreal, kicking off the season at Carrefour Angrignon and Place Longueuil from May 1-11. Then it moves to Place Cote Vertu and Place Rosèmere from May 15-June 1. You can expect all of the usual carnival rides, games and snacks.
Japan Week – May 1-11
Discover the food, culture and pets of Japan during this special event taking place in various businesses in Montreal. More than 25 restaurants and 21 boutiques will be participating, including Imadake Izakaya and Au Papier Japonais. Special events will be taking place on May 3rd and 4th with the Chibi Japanese market and on 10th with the Shiba, Akita, Kimono and Yukata dog gathering!
Salon Maternité et Paternité – May 10-11
This special event for expecting, new and young parents showcases the best for babies in Montreal. This year it takes place at the Grand Quai in Old Montreal on two days from 10am to 5pm. Visitors can expect to meet many local vendors, selling everything from clothing to feeding to travel. The event features a play area for young children as well. Kids under 16 are free, $17/adult
Pick your Own Tulips – Starting May 10
The tulips are about to start blooming which means that a trip to the Laval tulip field is in order. It is expected to open on Mother’s Day weekend with pre-sale tickets already on sale. The season will last until they are gone. You can purchase an admission package with or without (photos anyone?) 12-24-24 tulips.
Luzia – May 15 – August 24
Cirque du Soleil returns to Montreal for the summer season with a new show set to open under the big top. Luzia is a circus for all ages that is set in Mexico, with a cast of colourful acrobats. Family passes are available for the various showtimes, starting at $88 each.
La Ronde Season Opener – May 17
Our local thrill park opens for the season, starting with weekends until mid-June. This summer the Monster turns 40, the fireworks return and plenty of entertainment is on the agenda. Discounted season passes are still available and come with one free day to Canada’s Wonderland.
Eureka Festival – May 30 – June 1
This annual science festival is back at the Biosphere at Parc Jean Drapeau with 3 days featuring 120 free STEM activities. It includes more than 25 interactive lectures and shows, hands-on workshops and experiments, as well as street performers and entertainment.
Go Bike Festival – May 25 – June 1
This festival celebrates the sport of biking, culminating in the ever-so-popular Tour la Nuit. The ride takes place on May 30th with a 25km route. Feel free to join in at any point, to make the ride manageable for kids. The streets will come alive, without cars, filled with lights and colours. Kids under 12 are free and teens can join for only $9.
