Montreal with Kids: February 2025

montreal with kids February 2025

We made it through what might seem like the longest month of the year. Welcome to February. Valentine’s day, spring break and sunsets after 5pm. Plus, Montreal is host to a slew of family-friendly activities this month. Here are all the things to do in Montreal with kids, February 2025 edition.

Community Winter Carnivals – Throughout February

Municipalities do their best to warm up winter by hosting their own community winter carnivals. Here are some of the ones coming up:

DDO – February 1
Pointe Claire – February 1
Hampstead – February 2
Hudson – February 8
Cote Saint Luc – February 9
NDG – February 15
Pierrefonds – February 15

Winter Magic in the Museum Alley – February 8

The McCord Museum is hosting guests in its downtown outside alley for an afternoon of storytelling. In collaboration with the Montreal Intercultural Storytelling Festival, sign up for a spot at 1:30 or 2:30 and get ready to cozy up outside with fire pits and hot chocolate. Free but reservations are required.

4 Nations Face Off – February 12-15

While this is a big ticket event this month, it’s also the opportunity to experience hockey on an international level. Montreal will be host to 4 hockey games (to be continued in Boston) where teams will face off in various matches: Canada, USA, Sweden and Finland. The highly anticipated game is between Canada and the USA on February 15th. I’m continuing to watch tickets for last-minute deals to avoid the current $300+ price tag.

Valentine’s Day at Ikea – February 14

Celebrating Valentine’s Day as a family this year? Head to IKEA! The Swedish cafeteria will be offering a special 3-course dinner priced at $6.99 for kids and $19.99 for adults. Tickets must be purchased ahead of time in the store of your choice.

Montreal Boreal Festival – February 17 – March 10

Now in its 2nd year, this winter festival in Saint Henri is a great opportunity to get outdoors over the course of 4 weekends. Located in Sir George Etienne Cartier Park, activities will include kids’ games, sports activities (think: fat bikes, axe throwing and yoga), as well as a super-cute Burton-sponsored snowboarding course for toddlers. Snack stations will be available with local restaurants like Tuck Shop offering bites.

Sleeping Beauty – February 19-23

Les Grands Ballets will be premiering their production of Sleeping Beauty, a classic tale performed by ballet dancers. Various shows are available including weekend matinees. Tickets start at $79.

Montreal Canadiens Skills Competition – February 23

Hockey is accessible to everyone, thanks to this special event hosted by Rona. For $13, you can experience the Montreal Canadiens up close during a skills competition where they will compete against one another in challenges like fastest skater and hardest shot. Proceeds from the event go to two local charities.
