Perfect weather, a vibrant city, tons of opportunities for weekend road trips and more fun events and activities to add to our lists. Keep on reading to discover all the Montreal family activities August 2024 has to offer.
Ferme Forget Corn Maze – Opens July 27
Back for another season, this amazing corn maze just east of Laval, occupies 3.5 hectares of corn field – that’s 5 football fields! Two different labyrinths are available, an easier one that lasts 30-45 minutes and a more difficult route that is 1 hour or more. The farm has all the fun things including tractor rides, an animal farm and the opportunity to pick fruits (blueberries and raspberries are in season)!

Super Dad Race – August 3
The perfect activity to get all of their energy out. This race with 32 obstacles over 3km is for the entire family, not just dads. This fun challenge is located in Saint Calixte, Quebec (about 1 1/4 hrs from Montreal). There will be 25 different activity stations and plenty of food and entertainment too.

Highland Games – August 4
This age old tradition is back at the Douglas hospital grounds in Verdun with a day filled with bagpipes dancing, athletes and more. The family village (10am-5pm) features a rugby clinic, inflatables, face painting and more.

Les Lumières de Saint Michel – August 9-11
Presented by Tohu, this festival includes a nighttime lantern parade on Saturday night in the neighbourhood of Saint Michel. Other weekend events include circus and dance shows, fun activities and lots of food. Entrance is free.
Street Food Festival – August 15-18
Some of the best eats of the summer await in the Old Port at the Clock Tower Quay at this festival. The event features over 40 food stalls, local musicians and performers. The event is free for everyone but stay for a meal and sample over 150 types of food.
Festival Marionettes Plein La Rue – August 23-25
Now in its 12th year, this event put on by Promenade Wellington brings huge puppets to the street for this 3-day event. These impressive creations will be sure to amaze all ages. While in Verdun, it’s a great opportunity to try out some of the neighbourhood’s delicious restaurants including two of my favs: Bossa and Archway.
18th Century Market – August 24-25
The kids are going back to school soon and this is a great way to get them inspired for their Quebec history class! But really, this event at Pointe-à-Callière Museum is an annual tradition to transport guests back to the days of New France. Activities, games and workshops await plus a specially brewed beer to taste at the market. Free.
Taco Fest – August 31 – Sept 2
Date change! Now taking place at the end of the month, this festival takes place in Old Montreal at the Clock Tower Quay. There will be over 30 vendors on site selling their best tacos. Activities at the festival include a guacamole school, a hot sauce bar and over 25 kinds of tequila to sample. The event is open to children between 11 am and 3:30 pm but turns into an adult-only festival later in the day.
